Welcome to Sporting Judo Club Alba
Sporting Judo Club Alba (SJCA) is based in Clydebank and Glasgow, Scotland. With a successful history and pedigree, numerous Scottish & British Champions, several Commonwealth Games Medallists, a Youth Olympic Champion, a World Schoolboys Champion and a Sydney Olympian.
Judo is an excellent activity for adults, youths, boys and girls of all ages as it helps develop co-ordination, balance, fitness, flexibility and most importantly self-confidence. SJCA’s goals are to help children learn the art of judo, not just the combat. We also want them to grow up fit and healthy, learning in a fun manner, but also aware of the judo culture, respect, courtesy, and honour. They will even learn some Japanese!

What is Judo
Judo is a tremendous and dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponents down to the ground, control them, and apply various chokeholds or joint locks until submission.
CLUB VISIT from our sister club ‘COMA’ from Argenteuil, Paris on 22nd to 26th April
Our clubs have been linked since 1981 and there has been many visits over the years to & fro!
Clydebank’s twin town is Argenteuil and SJC ALBA has the longest established successful exchange, which is still ongoing! Get ready to welcome our Parisian friends and the challenge is not the judo, but see if you can speak to them in French.
